DIY Baux Burlap Banner | Photo Prop

Hey O!
So in an attempt to take some interesting missionary pictures, I decided to throw together this little flag prop!

First I went and got some burlap looking fabric, I would have gotten real burlap but it was 10 bucks a yard where as this stuff was only 2 dollars a yard

Then I made a pattern with some card stock, 6 inches across the top, 7 inches down.

I  only needed to cut out 4 triangles

Then I printed out the word "PERU" in big letters 1 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches tall

Next I cut out the letters with an x-acto knife

Then I used the letters as a stencil

using a sponge brush and some acrylic paint to sponge the letter onto the fabric

Hold the stencil as still as possible, then peel the paper off

And you will be left with a perfect letter!

Then I cut a yards worth of this lace stuff and hot glued it to the fabric triangles

This is the finished product!
I love how it turned out and can't wait to see how it turns out in pictures!

Sending Off A Missionary

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, girls today now have the opportunity to serve 18 month long missions at the age of 19 instead of 21. Today I said goodbye to one of my best friends and greatest examples. Sister Camille Weller is indeed a spiritual giant and I love her with all my heart. She will be a fantastic missionary and I cant wait to see her in a mere 547 days!

We took pictures and made a video, and they are coming soon!

Love you Hermana Weller! Peru Better watch out because you are on the horizon

Who We Are

Sometimes life gets you down, and when it does, you have two choices. To either wallow in your sadness and continue in your current lifestyle only to spiral down into darkness. Or you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps, change your attitude and strive to be better. We all have to make choices, and every choice you have made up to this point, good or bad, has gotten you where you are today. We need to remember who we are, which is children of our father in heaven, children of a king who didn't put us on this earth to fail. We can turn to him any time and in any situation and with a genuine heart and ask for help. You are never truly lost until you forget where you came from. We are children of the most high god.

Troubling times

Lately life has been a hot mess, and today has been one of those days where I slept in until about 11:00 and despite all conscious efforts to have a good day, nothing seemed to go as good as it usually does. Between allergies, difficult people, to many errands, not enough time, and about 30 other free radicles (most of which I have no control over) the world has thrown at me today, I am indeed ready for bed. One thing is for sure, I need to go to the temple tomorrow. This morning as I was reading the last chapters in 4th Nephi it was all I could think about. As an active member of the LDS church, and a soon to be Sister Missionary, I am lucky enough to be the proud owner of a temple recommend, and all day today when something bad would happen, all I could think was "Just make it to tomorrow, you are going to the temple tomorrow, and then you will be alright" and how true is that? The temple is the one place on earth where you can feel complete and utter peace. I have gotten answers to some of my toughest questions at the temple and tomorrow is going to be a duesy. This life is hard and full of twists and turns, and now more than ever do I need some answers.

This is were I get to go tomorrow, it is the Bountiful Temple in Utah, and one of the most beautiful places on earth
